HEAVEN

A picture of me loving the water taken by Tyler

This is delayed but this past Friday and Saturday, my friend Sarah and Tyler were taken to Courtmacsherry by our two Irish friends Dave and Rob. Dave and his cousins own country/beach houses in Courtmacsherry. This cute one street town is right on the water and harbor. We left Friday around 5:30 p.m., so we drove the hour chasing the beautiful Irish sunset along the countrysides. When we finally arrived it was too dark to see the water but the house smelled as though it was a beach house. I knew then that I was going to fall in love, just like Sarah told me I would. Once we ate dinner by candle light because we decided lights were overrated, drank some wine and tea it was 11:30 and we decided to walk down the street to a local pub for some pints. We got to the pub and all of us sat around a very tiny table getting to know one another, laughing and exchanging life stories. Around 1:30 the pub closed so we walked outside to walk the 15 minutes home. 2 and a half hours later we walked in the door. We stopped on benches and the harbor pier to look at the lights and boats on the water.

The next day I woke up at 12 to sun shinning bright into the room- God was on my side for today, sun in Ireland and a beach. I jumped out of bed- a very rare occasion- and looked out my window to find it was everything I imagined; water and then Irish countryside. We all got ready and jumped into the car, we were off to the beach. After an anxious 10 minute car ride we pull up to a cliff that over looks the water. When I get out, I knew today was the day I had been waiting for since I arrived Jan. 3rd. We walked down towards the water and walked on the rocks due to the fact that this beach had no actual beach. I sat on the rocks overlooking the water and surrounded by countryside. I took very little pictures due to the beauty surrounding me. Next Dave drove us to a beach we past earlier that Sarah and I wanted to see. Sarah and I ran down the hill, took off our shoes -boots in my case-, rolled up our jeans and began to run around with our feet in the water. I spent the entire time with my feet in the water. If it is possible to love something like this, it happened to me. I was in my element. I was in love with Ireland. Sadly my fellow travelers were hungry so we ventured to our next stop, the woods. We walked through a path that included green moss growing on trees and the water peeking through the trees. Once we walked up, we were welcomed by a cliff overlooking the water yet again. The day ended with us going back for some tea, eggs and bacon and us not ready to leave just yet, so we went to a pub for a pint before traveling back to the hustle and bustle of Cork city. I enjoy Cork, but this place was heaven to me. If I could stay one place for the rest of my life, that beach with my feet in the water is where it would be. This past weekend my other friends went to Amsterdam for 6 days I was sad that I didn't go, but after that trip I know that I made the correct decision. I got to fall in love with Ireland and had the company of 4 others that made it even better.

This past Sunday my two friends also shared a moment they will never forget. Jake and Lindsay got married and I was blessed enough to talk to some people at the wedding including Maura who lives in Alaska. Congratulations Lindsay and Jake!

This Sunday is my friend Emily's 21st birthday and then on Monday Loyola will have fully invaded Cork. This will be a fun next week. I can't wait for May so I can spend my days in Courtmacsherry even more. Hopefully I will get to take my sister there when she visits because she just like me will fall in love and will never want to leave.
